Call for PhD project proposals (Cohort 4, 2026 intake)

NTR-Net is pleased to announce the solicitation for the 2026 intake of PhD projects (Cohort-4), and would welcome proposals by midnight on Sunday August 31st 2025. If you are interested, either please contact us directly ([email protected]) for a copy of the proposal form, or contact your institutional academic champion. The NTR-Net committee (a grouping of government experts) will review all applications during the month of September, and we will contact proposers should further information be required.

Please note that we would like to maximise the leverage on our government funding, so projects which are able to attract 50% funding from alternative sources, including from your own institutions, will likely be received preferentially by the Committee. Please note that if matched funding is coming from industry or a governmental organisation, then a signed Letter of Intent is required from this Project Partner.

Academics at Universities which are part of the NTR-Net consortium are eligible to apply for this studentship funding. This includes the Universities of Bristol, Bangor, Birmingham*, Imperial College*, Manchester, Queen Mary, Kings*, Sheffield*, Southampton* and Surrey.

Involvement in the network will provide the opportunity for students to partake in the CDP training and education programme, and for students and academics to become involved in NTR-Net technical workshops and meetings.

For more information, and to request a copy of the proposal form, please contact [email protected].

* denotes universities currently negotiating contractual partnership.
